Whatever works are carried out in the corridors will involve disruption and noise, whether it is installing the appalling false ceilings or removing the pipework. This cannot be avoided.

Waiting for the enfranchisement to complete before commencing works will cause a delay in the corridor works but the enfranchisement should complete about a year after we are able to trigger the issue of the initial notice (once we have 97 participants), not the 2-3 years suggested by the NWHLG. The sooner we are able to issue that notice the better, and in the interim we will be able to start commissioning the expert assessments.

In any case, Maunder Taylor acknowledges that his proposed works are unlikely to start until next year, i.e. 2019, and then only if he has sufficient funds.

More importantly, we should be more concerned to have the right works carried out in the corridors not the wrong works just because they can start sooner. There is of course a myriad of other works needed, all of which mean we must accept a period of disruption before Northwood Hall is fully restored.
