On the first question we have always been clear as to our intentions, as is stated in the Invitation To Participate sent out in March:
“the freehold would allow the restoration of the original heating system (there’s very little wrong with it) [this refers to the scheme of vertical risers] and integration with the new scheme as installed in the majority of flats. The cost of this would be less than that of the proposed false ceilings, nobody would lose what has already been installed in their flat, and the corridors would revert to their original proportions and design and be free of suffocating heat”
The current proposals recently put forward by Maunder Taylor and Mr Nicholson for the corridor works, with ugly, highly intrusive false ceilings, reinforces our strong objection to this approach with its appalling aesthetics and significant loss of amenity, and its detriment to the value of the building. If there is a viable alternative which avoids these serious downsides then it is self-evident that this needs to be fully explored.
